Seccombe is referred to as Captain (in later editions he becomes Major or Lieutenant Colonel) on the front of the red cloth boards. With alphabetical descriptions and illustrations from designs by the author. Printed in colours by Kronheim. Complete with 25 full-page colour plates, including frontis. Boards are darkened, and rubbed at edges. The gilt design and lettering has been slightly rubbed away. Internally, one or two of the blank pages in between illustrations has a small closed tear, not affecting any text or illustration pages. Text 27pp + 2pp adverts. 270 x 230 mm (10¾ x 9 inches).

Frontispiece to inside of soft cover is signed Dalziel in the plate; remaining woodcuts appear also to be by the Dalziel Brothers, but are unsigned. These copper engravings were created as relief engravings based on those found at the Wiener Hofbibliothek. Four page introduction by Dr. Karl Kloss. The portfolio is in good shape, with some rubbing to edges. Inside, the sheets are clean, and the work is complete; but most of the plates have been slightly folded over at the top edge when the portfolio has not been carefully closed over the years. 295 x 270 mm (11½ x 10¾ inches).

The letters SPG stand for Simon Philip Goudsmit, the founder of the Dutch department store chain 'De Bijenkorf' (The Beehive). Nicolaas Johannes van de Vecht was a Dutch watercolorist, draftsman and lithographer. He was a student at the Arts and Crafts School Quellinus Amsterdam and the State School for Arts and Crafts Amsterdam. In addition to watercolor painting, drawing and lithography, he was a book binding designer.

This limited edition, originally owned by a friend of Brangwyn, has been part of a collection of the artist's work built over 50 years. Born in Bruges in 1867, Brangwyn exhibited at the Royal Academy for the first time aged only 18. From the 1890's he produced profuse…

A l'intérieur, on trouve le feuillet de titre, et un deuxième feuillet de deux feuilles, avec un texte d'introduction, en français, et une table des planches. Cette dernière indique la provenance de chaque élément et est répétée sur chaque planche. Les planches sont en bon état, mais légèrement assombries. Les quarante planches (complètes) sont des images attrayantes reproduites par lithographie en couleurs, posées sur du papier cartonné gris rigide. Les titres, etc. sont imprimés sur la carte. Les images sont en excellent état. La carte est un peu assombrie sur les bords, et quelques-unes présentent de petites marques d'usure, des entailles et des plis. Dans l'ensemble, il s'agit d'un très bon état. Une belle copie d'un article peu commun. 390 x 300 mm
