  • Ukrainian Crossroads. by SNOEK, Otto
    SNOEK, Otto
    Ukrainian Crossroads.

Amsterdam: Lecturis / van Zoetendaal, 2014. First edition. Large softback photo book. In very good condition. No text, just photos. 145 pages. 280 x 220 mm (11 x 8¾ inches).
Otto Snoek photographed the images presented here during six trips to Ukraine between 1989 - 1992. He documents a poor and desperate - but proud - country, in the latter years of communism, and records the people and places in a style which means that different things happen simultaneously in his photos. Fascinating.

His obsessions are also revealed in the outstanding precision of his work, each photograph evidencing meticulous technical skill. This book reveals the vivid universe Sébastien Meunier has left behind.

The Neurdein company was the largest French publisher of postcards of the time. By the turn of the century, they were being funded by the French government to produce images and postcards of Algeria in order to promote colonial tourism and stimulate private investment.
